Welcome to the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), the regulator established in terms of the Pharmacy Act, 1974 (Act 53 of 1974) to regulate pharmacists, pharmacy support personnel and pharmacy premises in South Africa.
Our mandate is to protect, promote and maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of patients and the public to ensure accessible quality pharmaceutical service for all South Africans.

APPLICATIONS AND/ OR NOMINATIONS TO SERVE ON THE ICT COMMITTEE

The South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to serve on its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Committee established in terms of section 4(o) of the Pharmacy Act, 53 of 1974, to assist the council (board) in fulfilling its oversight role by ensuring that ICT investments deliver measurable business value, drive innovation, strengthen IT governance and support the SAPC in achieving its strategic objectives.

A detailed CV, certified copies of ID and qualifications should be forwarded to  Lebogang.Taunyane@sapc.za.org with ICT Committee Applications as the subject.

MEDIA RELEASE: #MedSafetyWeek: South African Pharmacy Council calls on members of the public to report side effects and adverse reactions to medication

The regulator of the pharmacy profession in South Africa, the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), joins the global community in celebrating #MedSafetyWeek held from 3 to 9 November, and raising awareness about the importance of making medicines safer through the reporting of adverse reactions, under the World Health Organisation/Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC)’s theme “We all have the power to make medicines safer”.

MEDIA RELEASE: Expanded access to HIV and AIDS treatment now a reality after the Supreme Court of Appeal dismisses appeal seeking to stop PIMART
The regulator of the pharmacy profession in the country, the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), welcomes the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeal in relation to the legality, rationality and necessity of Pharmacist-Initiated Management of Antiretroviral Therapy (PIMART). The Supreme Court on Thursday, 9 October, dismissed an appeal by the IPA Foundation which sought to set aside a 2023 ruling by the North Gauteng High Court dismissing their application to prevent the implementation of PIMART

The SAPC hereby invites reputable, qualified service providers, who are Microsoft-certified partners/professionals with a record of implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 as a CRM, to implement the Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM system, with Microsoft Copilot Generative AI Chatbot/Virtual Agent, and ensure the following integrations: Contact/Call Centre Telephony System (currently 3CX), Outlook mailbox, Omnichannel (Social Media, WhatsApp), member database system, in-house case management system, and SAGE Accpac (for account balance queries).

Announcement: The South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) is pleased to announce that the long-awaited 4th National Pharmacy Conference will take place on 11-13 October 2026 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre Complex (commonly known as “Durban ICC”) in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The conference will be held under the theme: “A Glimpse into The Future: Advancing Pharmacy Towards 2050.”
